Survival of the smolov

I've conquered the base mesocycle already and boy was it tough.. Every single rep is brutal and it takes a toll on you.. huffing and puffing away just to get every single rep. Anyway did the usual on the weekends.. chill out with friends.. pool.. dota.. slacked and here comes the new week!!

Alright then here are some videos of who i think is the strongest bodybuilder of all time... Ronnie Coleman.

have fun watching the guy who won the most olympias

Jesse Marunde

Jesse Marunde. That name will ring a bell in any strength enthusiast like myself. WSM competitor who had a very very promising career whom unfortunately passed away due to a cardiac arrest.

Here's a video of him doing the 20 rep squats.

Thats really intense huh? definitely hardcore. You will never know how tough squatting is until you really do it. 99% of the people dont know just how easy their workouts are as they arent pushing themselves hard enough.

Anyway, this is my 3rd and last week of my Smolov base mesocycle. Its a really tough workout i must say. The best workouts i've had. My joints are aching. But of course im persevering through this and im gonna conquer it!

CPR certified

I finally got my CPR course done today and am awaiting to receive my certificate = ). Went to Liang court and met kelvin at Marutama ramen and had a big meal there. Great ramen i tell you.. you should try it some day at liang court or central. Got home.. watched heroes and played dota and that how my sunday had gone by.

Gonna start my cardio again soon after 2 more weeks of hell in my routine. Gotta up the HIIT and start getting lean again. If you dont already know .. HIIT stands for Hight intensity interval training. Its something like doing sprints then a slow paced jog and repeat. This is by far the best way for you to burn fat and not your usual steady state cardio such as jogging. Thats a horrible choice if you're intending to shed fat. Dont believe me? Its your loss then. Do some research and check it out. What i usually do for HIIT is either on the bike or on the road/track. I'll proceed with 2 mins of normal pace cardio for a warm up and 10 seconds of all out sprints then proceed to a 1 min or so normal pace run/cycle then repeat for another 8 times or so and cool off by having a slow jog at the end for 2 mins or so. This will probably last you less than 15 mins and you will be dead beat after that. That is provided you're giving it your all on your sprints. Try it and see how it goes.

Dedication

Woke up on a saturday to my usual routine and had breakfast. Then guess what? I wasnt feeling too well when i had my whey in the morning and i puked... god damn it. Rested and just slacked at home till i felt better and i was off to grueling smolov routine, base mesocycle phase. You read that right folks i did not choose to give myself an excuse for an off day but instead i stormed down to the gym for my workout. Now how many of you can say you will do that? huh? say what? I guess none of you can! If you say otherwise.. give yourself a pat on the back.

And so.... i conquered the weigthts and finished my sets.. yes all 10 of them and then headed back for a shower before meeting Jh to have dinner at Tomton @ central. If you have not tried it yet... please do. The sashimis, sushis and black pig sets are excellent there. For the price you're paying i think no other restaurants can compare in terms of quality here. Walked around clarke quay after that and people watch while having ice cream and headed back home for my well deserved rest.

Smolov

I've just started the first day of the third week of the smolov routine and it was good. Went to the gym with XB today.. my new trainee ... haha.. Worked before training and as usual work is the same monotonous stuff. Same thing different day. What i think i've learnt in my past 17 months so far is to probably tolerate difficult people who happen to be your superiors. Patience eh? Anyway.. I watched "REC" on saturday and its pretty much like house of the dead. Its the show that "quarantined" due on dec had a remake of.. not too bad. Alright im off to get some food now!!

311008- Met up with victor, karen and keat at alvin neo's 22nd. Caught up with some people whom i have not seen for awhile there and then left for home after that when keat decided to go for halloween at phuture. Have yet to get my Captains of crush (COC #2 gripper) from vic though... o yea.. coc grippers are great for training for crushing grip if you have not heard of them. Check them out @ ironmind.com It will turn your weak hands into strong vices. Though i've not touched them for quite a long while due to my injuries, my hands have always been pretty strong i suppose. coc no.2 is officially closed pretty damn easily after i got them. = )

Saturday...a sad event here. my younger cousin passed away. Though we weren't close... it saddens me to see his grieving family when i went for the cremation. After which i did pretty much the usual for a weekend.. went to cathay to hang out with gerald and jh over dota.

Sunday- Did some jumps at home today as my routine called for it.. and check out disturb's new album. -Indestructible. If you like disturb or rock.. this would be good to you. Cant wait to get to the base meso cycle of the new routine. Its gonna be tough.. and tough is good = ) Definitely not for the faint of heart.

Here's something to rant about ...as you've probably realised... 99% of the people in the gym you go to probably dont know what they're doing. Trainers included. Why do they still go to the gym to take up the precious space where its meant for people who's actually serious about this? The sight of someone doing say... bicep curls in the power cage never fails to irritate me. If you arent serious about training in the first place why waste your time in the gym in the first place? You're wasting time and money here... what are you trying to achieve? dont come telling me that you are there to check girls out or just to "tone". For that there is NO such thing as "toning." Thats only possible when you diet and lose bodyfat to be leaner and carry less bodyfat! Big big big misconception of all time for almost all people. They tell you they're there to tone tone tone.. bah bullshit.. they dont know what they're talking about. If you wanna go tone go use a pink dumbbell or a water bottle and curl it for a thousand times. Sure you'll feel the burn.. but will that benefit you in any way? NOPE.. you guessed right. So even if you're of the fairer sex and reading this...i'd suggest you do heavier weights and stick to a rep range of 8-12 less if you want with a heavier weight. and NO you wont become bulky like those women you see who look like men on the magazines.. They are on steroids... You cant be like that naturually. You will only and definitely look more sexy, more toned, leaner, stronger. Of course your diet must be pretty decent. Good luck with the weights and ditch the pink dumbbells if you didnt bother reading whatever that is on top... progress to the blue dumbbells yea?
